Custom Embroidered Patches in Columbia, SC

Custom embroidered patches for jackets, hats, bags, uniforms, and gear — designed, digitized, and sewn or sold loose for you to attach yourself.

Logos that translate to thread

We digitize artwork specifically for embroidery — adjusting fine details, fonts, and colors so the patch looks crisp and reads clearly at the size you actually need.

Sew-on, iron-on, or Velcro

Pick the backing that fits how you'll use it. Sew-on for permanence, iron-on for quick application, hook-and-loop Velcro for tactical and uniform setups.

We can attach them too

Need patches sewn onto jackets, vests, or uniforms? We attach in-house with careful placement and durable stitching — no separate trip to a tailor.

Small batches welcome

Single patches, small team runs, club sets, event giveaways — there's no online minimum to clear before we'll talk to you.

How an appointment works

  1. 1

    Send us your idea

Share artwork, a sketch, or just a description, plus the rough size, quantity, and how you want to attach it. We'll confirm what's possible.

  2. 2

    Design and approve

We digitize the patch for embroidery, recommend borders and backing, and send a digital proof. Once it looks right, we stitch a sample for larger runs.

  3. 3

    Stitch, finish, deliver

Patches are stitched on commercial machines, finished with the backing you chose, and either delivered loose or attached to your garments.

Pricing & turnaround

Patch pricing depends on size, stitch count, color count, backing type, and quantity. Larger runs reduce per-patch cost because the digitizing setup is a one-time charge. Single patches are also welcome. Typical turnaround is 1–2 weeks once the design is approved.

Embroidered patches are a versatile option when direct embroidery is not ideal or when you want a consistent design that can be applied across many different items. Clever Orchid designs, digitizes, and produces custom embroidered patches at our Devine Street studio in Columbia, SC — from single one-off patches to team and club batch runs.

From artwork to finished patch

Every custom patch starts with your artwork, logo, sketch, or even a rough description. Shirly digitizes the design specifically for embroidery — adjusting fine lines, text, and color transitions so the patch stitches cleanly at the size you need. You approve a digital proof before any thread runs, and for larger orders we produce a physical sample first.

Backing options for every use case

Not every patch gets used the same way, so we offer multiple backing styles. Sew-on backing gives the cleanest edge and the most durable attachment — ideal for uniforms, motorcycle vests, and items that see heavy wear. Iron-on backing uses heat-activated adhesive for quick application on jackets, tote bags, and hats. Hook-and-loop Velcro backing is the standard for tactical, military, and law-enforcement uniforms where patches need to be swapped in the field.

Common patch projects

  • Business logo patches for staff uniforms, hats, and jackets
  • Scout troop and achievement patches
  • Motorcycle club and riding group patches
  • Tournament, event, and fundraiser giveaway patches
  • Chenille letterman-style patches for varsity jackets
  • Memorial, commemorative, and in-memoriam patches
  • Tactical and morale patches with Velcro backing

Border and shape options

Patches can be finished with a merrowed border (the classic raised-thread edge), a hot-cut edge for custom shapes, or a laser-cut edge for intricate outlines. Standard shapes include circles, rectangles, ovals, and shields — but custom die-cut shapes are available for logos and mascots that don't fit a rectangle.

In-house attachment

Already have patches and need them applied? We attach patches to jackets, vests, uniforms, bags, and gear on commercial machines with thread matched to the garment. Every patch is pinned in place for your approval before stitching — see our sew-on patch attachment service for details.

Frequently asked questions

Can I get custom patches near me in Columbia, SC?

Yes — Clever Orchid designs and produces custom embroidered patches at our Devine Street studio in Columbia, SC. Single patches and small batches are welcome, no big online minimums to clear.

What backings do you offer?

Sew-on (a clean stitched edge for hand or machine sewing), iron-on (heat-activated adhesive for jackets and bags), and hook-and-loop Velcro (the standard for tactical, military, and law enforcement uniforms). We'll recommend the right backing for how you plan to use it.

Do you do logo patches for small businesses?

Yes. Custom logo patches are a great option when you want consistent branding across many garments without re-embroidering each item — for example, on hats, jackets, and uniforms. We digitize the logo once and produce patches in any quantity you need.

Can you attach the patches for me?

Yes — we attach patches in-house to jackets, vests, uniforms, and gear. We pin in place for your approval first, then sew with durable stitching so they hold up to real use and washing.

What's the minimum order?

There's no strict minimum. We'll do single patches, small sets for teams or clubs, and larger production runs. Per-patch cost drops as quantity goes up because digitizing is a one-time setup charge.

How long does a custom patch order take?

Most patch orders take about 1–2 weeks once the design is approved. Smaller quantities can sometimes turn faster, and rush options are sometimes available — share your deadline up front.
