Core Embroidery
Custom Embroidery in Columbia, SC
Full-service, in-house embroidery for gifts, uniforms, and specialty fabrics — by appointment with the owner on Devine Street.
Stitched in-house
Every piece is hooped and stitched on commercial machines in our Devine Street studio — never sent to an out-of-state factory.
One-on-one with the owner
Your appointment is with Shirly herself. You see fonts and thread colors in person before a single stitch is sewn.
Specialty fabrics welcome
Cashmere, leather, fur linings, satin, baby blankets — we test stitch-outs and adjust stabilizers so delicate items come out clean.

Pricing & turnaround

Frequently asked questions
Do I need to bring my own item?
No — you can bring your own garments, blankets, bags, and gifts, or we can source quality blanks from our wholesale partners. Many clients do a mix of both.
Can you embroider on items I already own?
Yes. During your appointment we'll evaluate the item to make sure it can be safely embroidered and discuss the best stabilizer, hooping, and placement.
How long does a typical embroidery project take?
Simple monogram and name projects usually finish in 3–5 business days. Complex custom designs, pet portraits, and uniform programs typically take 1–2 weeks. Share your deadline up front and we'll let you know what's realistic.
Do you do logos for businesses and uniforms?
Yes — corporate apparel, medical uniforms, lab coats, chef coats, and recurring uniform programs are a core part of what we do. We keep your logo and thread colors on file for easy reorders.
Are walk-ins welcome?
Clever Orchid is appointment-only so each client gets focused, unhurried attention. Schedule by calling or texting (803) 205-0844 or using the booking form.
Can you embroider on delicate fabrics like cashmere or leather?
Yes. We specialize in specialty fabrics including cashmere, leather, satin, and fur coat linings, and we run test stitch-outs on similar material before working on the final piece.
