Personalized Christmas Stocking Embroidery in Columbia, SC

Names, monograms, and designs embroidered on Christmas stockings and holiday textiles — coordinated across the family for an heirloom look. Book early; the holiday season fills fast.

An heirloom for every December

A well-stitched stocking becomes part of your family's tradition. We treat each one with the care it deserves — the kind of work you'll see on the mantle every year for decades.

Coordinated across the whole family

Bring in stockings collected over time and Shirly will tie them together with consistent fonts and thread colors so the set looks intentional, even if the stockings themselves are different.

Honest about what's safe

Stockings come in many fabrics and constructions. Shirly checks the lining, seams, and thickness in person and recommends an alternative (like a name patch or tag) when direct embroidery isn't right for a specific stocking.

Book early — holiday season fills fast

November and December are the busiest time of the year in the studio. Reach out as early as possible — ideally October or earlier — so your stockings are ready well before your celebrations.

How an appointment works

  1. 1

    Bring in your stockings (early)

Bring the stockings — or send photos ahead of your appointment if you're not sure they can be embroidered. Ideally schedule in October or earlier for the best holiday turnaround.

  2. 2

    Plan a coordinated look

Sit down with Shirly to choose fonts, thread colors, and placement. If you're working with a mix of stockings, we'll plan a unifying treatment so the family set looks intentional.

  3. 3

Stitched and home for the holidays

Your stockings are hooped and stitched in our Devine Street studio with extra care for delicate or vintage pieces, then ready for pickup well before Christmas.

Pricing & turnaround

Christmas stocking embroidery pricing depends on stitch count, font complexity, and the number of stockings. Holiday season is the busiest time of the year in the studio — book in October or earlier for best availability and pricing. Last-minute December rush requests are limited.

Holiday stockings become part of a family’s tradition year after year. Clever Orchid embroiders names and designs on Christmas stockings so each person in the family has something that feels personal and special.

Creating a coordinated set

Clients often bring in a mix of stockings collected over time, and Shirly helps tie them together with consistent fonts and thread colors. Whether you prefer classic script, playful lettering, or something simple and modern, she can match the style to your holiday decor.

What we can personalize

  • Individual names for each family member
  • Initials or short phrases
  • Simple motifs or accents to complement the stocking design

Working with different materials

Stockings come in many fabrics and constructions. During your appointment, Shirly will check the lining, seams, and thickness to determine whether the stocking can be safely hooped and embroidered. When direct embroidery is not advisable, she may recommend an alternative such as a name patch or tag.

Plan ahead for the holidays

The holiday season is extremely busy, especially for embroidery. It is best to plan stockings and other holiday projects well in advance. If you have stockings, towels, blankets, or tree skirts you would like personalized, reaching out early helps ensure they are ready in time for your celebrations.

Frequently asked questions

Can I bring my own Christmas stockings to be embroidered?

Yes — most of our stocking projects use stockings families bring in. Shirly will check the lining, seams, and thickness to confirm the stocking can be safely hooped and embroidered before stitching.

What if my stocking can't be safely embroidered?

Some stocking constructions (heavy lined, very thick, or oddly shaped) aren't safe for direct embroidery. In those cases we can stitch a separate name patch or tag and attach it neatly — same heirloom look without risking the stocking.

When should I book for Christmas stockings?

As early as possible — ideally October or earlier. November and December fill very quickly with holiday work, and we'd much rather plan your stockings carefully than rush them at the last minute. December rush requests have limited availability.

Can you coordinate a family set even if our stockings don't match?

Yes — that's actually one of the most common things we do. We use consistent fonts and thread colors across mismatched stockings collected over the years so the family set looks unified and intentional.

Can you add a new family member to an existing set years later?

Absolutely — adding new babies, spouses, or even pets to an existing family set is one of the joys of this work. We'll match the font and thread color to your existing stockings so the new addition looks like it has always been there.

Do you also do tree skirts and other holiday textiles?

Yes. Tree skirts, holiday pillows, advent calendars, and other holiday textiles are all welcome. The same "book early" advice applies — start in October if you can.
